about tantra spa

Tantra Spa is a one location and one woman owned boutique spa who opened its doors in Ferndale Michigan in 2002. At that time, owner and Esthetician, Yvette Tremaine was the sole service provider and over the years this unique spa has added rooms, staff and services now offering massage, waxing, body treatments, award winning facials and a retail boutique featuring Aveda along with many other local and natural products for the home and self care.

Small is size, but big in heart, Tantra spa prides itself on splendid services performed by nurturing and masterful staff, exemplary customer service and a welcoming vibe. We offer services for men, women and teens in a cozy, private setting, and use Aveda's pure plant and flower derived products in our services. Our mission at Tantra is to create a calming environment and to provide you, our guest, with relaxing, blissful and unforgettable services. When you walk into Tantra, you're immediately transported to a truly magical place and your sensory adventure begins. Aromas from nature fill the air and you feel relaxed and carefree. The warm, earthy interiors embrace and welcome you. Organic herbal tea comforts you, and your journey into a blissful state begins. Your body and mind begin to take in the constant soothing rhythm of nature sounds and slow earthy grooves, and the power of touch takes you to a far away place. You have arrived.

yvette Tremaine/ Owner/Esthetician/Reflexologist

Before opening Tantra, Yvette had worked in the skin care industry for thirteen years managing for Estee Lauder and Aveda. Skin care and natural ingredients were always in her blood along with owning her own business, so it seemed logical to get her license in esthetics and the rest just fell into place. Yvette loves being able to relax the body and mind of her client and make beautiful changes to their skin naturally. Yvette is a mom, nurturer, photographer, dancer and gardener and is at her best in nature. She loves travel, music of the 60s and 70s, natural remedies, a simple life, being quiet, cats and dogs, Sunday mornings, being barefoot, Lake Michigan, dark chocolate and authenticity.

Jen Bonello/ Esthetician

Jen has been a licensed esthetician since graduating from the Douglas J Aveda Institute in 2010. After working for many years in an office setting, she was ready for a new challenge and for something that would allow her more time with her family. Working at Tantra is everything that Jen could want in a job, she sees it as a place for her to grow and truly express her personality and passion for helping others. Her favorite part of the job is seeing the euphoric smile on her client's face after a facial...nothing can beat that! Jen married her best friend in 2009 and has three beautiful and energetic children. She loves traveling up north, walking the beach and finding rocks, s'mores by the fire, pool days, ice cream, exploring new parks, fruit, dancing in the car and movie nights cuddled up together on the couch.

Jamie Morrow / Massage Therapist

Jamie has always had a passion for massage therapy and all of the healing benefits that massage does for the mind, body and soul. Some of the benefits include relaxation, improved circulation, improved posture and strengthening the immune system. She realized she wanted to become a massage therapist after getting massages herself for years and personally felt the benefits of what massage does. She always felt she was a healer of some sort, so it only seemed natural to go to massage school. She attended the Flint School of Therapeutic Massage and graduated in October 2015. She is committed to her craft, believes that every person has the ability to heal themselves and she has respect for where her client is in their process. She also believes that there is integrity in her work and a connection with her client and is honored to have a moment in others' journeys. Jamie enjoys working at Tantra Spa, traveling, sunsets, essential oils, getting massages on the beach, vegetarian food, music, comedy shows, art, anything zen, and her dog Rocco.

Jen brown / massage therapist 1/9/76-9/11/23 RIP

The path that lead me to massage work was a friend’s referral to my midwife when I had my first child in 1997.  The exposure to so many varied choices in care lead me to explore the arena of more holistic and preventative healing modalities.  I chose to begin schooling in 1999 and graduated from Irene’s Myomassology Institute in 2000.

Over the years, body and energy work have been at the core of my professional life, while my studies continued.  I spent three years as an apprentice midwife and doula utilizing prenatal, labor, and infant massage.  These were some of the most rewarding years of my life in learning.  I was able to raise my two boys and put myself through college working with special needs kids, amateur and professional athletes as well as Detroit circus performers to keep their bodies in top condition and aiding in minimizing any injuries incurred with shiatsu, sports massage and lymphatic drainage. I was lucky enough to shadow several physical therapists in their care of my clients which inspired more coursework in cranio-sacral therapy to treat body and brain injury. I continue to learn and grow as a therapist in every facet I am able, as I am still insatiably curious.

Outside my work life I am obsessed with the sky and continuously snapping shots of it.  I adore my boys, family, a few friends, and sweetheart.  I would like to one day have a sustainable farm where I can grow my own food and make my own line of grown and foraged remedies.  I attempt encaustic painting here and there and I ride a motorcycle whenever Michigan weather permits, and sometimes when it doesn’t.
